VANCOUVER, British Columbia—Robert Pattinson is having an Obi-Wan Kenobi moment. Inside a soundstage where “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” is shooting, the lanky English heartthrob stands in front of a tall, wide green screen murmuring a tender admonition, “You promised me nothing reckless.” Motion capture cameras hurtle toward him across a length of track affixed to the stage floor, while a team of technicians studies his stance and the tilt of his head.

The plan is to digitally insert Pattinson, who plays swoony good guy vampire Edward Cullen, into a scene that was filmed much earlier—one in which he appears as an apparition to his costar, Kristen Stewart, cautioning her headstrong character Bella Swan against hanging out with some unsavory-looking biker types. For the effect to work, Pattinson’s image will need to be dropped in at exactly the right position, so despite the cast and crew nearing the end of a very long early May day, perfectionism is still the standard.

The team working on this sequel to last year’s Catherine Hardwicke-directed “Twilight,” which brought in an unexpected $365 million worldwide for Summit Entertainment, is moving quickly to sustain the momentum of the sexy, youth-oriented franchise.

Between takes, Pattinson chats with the crew while director Chris Weitz stands several feet away, his arms folded behind his head. Visual effects, “that’s not my thing,” he concedes with a wry smile.

What does interest him is literature. Due in theaters Nov. 20, “New Moon” will mark his third consecutive literary adaptation after having directed “About a Boy,” from the Nick Hornby novel, and “The Golden Compass,” the big-budget fantasy based on the first chapter in author Philip Pullman’s award-winning “His Dark Materials” series. It was his experience making that film, which should have been a dream project really, given Weitz’s reverence for the source material, that made the idea of taking the reins on the second “Twilight” film so appealing.

During post-production on “Compass,” concerns over the story’s take on organized religion and its grim ending caused studio New Line to take control of the $180 million movie.

The film earned only $70 million domestically, though it fared better overseas, and Weitz still despairs that he was unable to faithfully execute Pullman’s vision. (New Line declined to comment for this story.)

“It’s one of the great sadnesses of my life that it didn’t turn out the way I intended it,” he says.

“New Moon,” a story about surviving the ultimate heartbreak and loss, is Weitz’s chance to heal his wounds and find a new creative path. It’s a path that winds through the gloomy forests of the Pacific Northwest and the Italian village of Multipulciano. The last three days of the shoot will happen there, but before then, Weitz needs to complete the complicated camera maneuvers that will enable him to transform Pattinson’s Edward into a spectral vision.

For anyone unfamiliar with the world of “Twilight,” a primer: In author Stephenie Meyer’s first tale, 17-year-old Bella Swan moves to Forks, Wash., to live with her small-town sheriff father. She soon falls for the mysterious Edward Cullen, a vampire who, like the rest of his extended “family,” abstains from drinking human blood. In “New Moon,” Edward opts to leave town to protect Bella—whose proximity to these powerful supernatural creatures places her in almost constant danger—but his decision leaves her broken and inconsolable.

The film’s success, driven by the unrelenting support of Meyer’s fans, most of whom are teenage girls (but whose ranks also include some young men and their moms), catapulted 19-year-old Stewart and 23-year-old Pattinson to a stratospheric level of stardom that seems to make both actors deeply uncomfortable. Their reticence about fame is understandable: The nature of their off-screen relationship has become the frequent subject of tabloid speculation.

These days, they’ve taken to declining a number of interviews, politely refusing to answer questions posed even by journalists invited to visit the set. Taylor Lautner, 17, who plays Bella’s friend Jacob, hasn’t experienced exactly the same sort of frenzy, but with his character moving to the forefront of the action in “New Moon,” he soon might. There is, after all, an entire camp that argues that Bella should wind up with his character.

“I don’t know if you can get used to it,” the baby-faced Lautner says of the unbridled ardor the series inspires. “We have seen the passion and dedication in the fans. It’s fantastic. We wouldn’t be here without them, but they’re everywhere.

“You’re always experiencing the fans,” adds Lautner, who spent nearly a year in the gym training for the physical demands of his “New Moon” role. “Sometimes it does get a little overwhelming.”

Newcomer Xavier Samuel Cast As Riley In “Eclipse”

Summit Entertainment has tapped Australian newcomer Xavier Samuel to play Riley in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in the franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s megaselling novels, according to the Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Business blog.

As fans of the series know, Riley starts off as a plain, old human college student, only to fall under the spell of the increasingly vengeful Victoria and, as a newborn vampire, join her crusade against Bella.

Among the names bandied about for the Riley role were Tom Felton “Draco Malfoy” and Channing Tatum, whom screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg once said would play the part “beautifully.”

Eclipse is expected to start shooting sometime next month in Vancouver in time for its June 30, 2010 release, while Twilight fans are expected to go into overdrive any day now as they await the Nov. 20 arrival of New Moon.

In the article, Miley opens up about her life, her friends and the new clothing line she's debuting with Max Azria at Walmart stores. She says she's most exicted about the jeans in the line and is looking forward to giving fashionistas in middle America the chance to wear things she'd like to wear and are affordable.

Miley dishes that it's hard to be a teen star sometimes because so many people try to use you. She says that fellow teen-stars like Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are good friends because they have their own thing going and don't need anything from each other.

And people trying to take a stab at Miley by critiquing her teeth might as well stop because the 16 year old says that she is fully aware that her pearly whites aren't perfect. In the article, Miley's reveals that she knows they're crooked and she loves them. The whole rumor that her dad won't allow her to get them fixed is completely untrue.

Miles' Elle cover proves that she's really growing up and opening up about who she is. She even sent out a tweet to encourage fans to buy the mag saying "everyone please get my issue of Elle. Every time I do a cover I feel like y'all know me better."

The song is based on the 1971 hit ballad 'A Horse with No Name' by the group 'America'.

Before haters cry plagiarism, the band was fully aware of the song's production. Jim Morey, America's current manager, gave the King of Pop permission to record the song, also declaring "The band was honoured that Michael chose to do their song and they hope it becomes available for all Michael's fans to hear". Jim Morey, was also Michael Jackson's manager in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Details as to when the song was recorded remain unclear. It could however indicate that MJ was working on another album. Although there are no firm estimates as to the scope of unreleased songs from the King of Pop, Sony Music chairman and CEO Tommy Mottola gave fans great hope stating "There were so many recordings, and so many of them were great... it doesnt mean these [unreleased] songs were any less great; it just happened to be the other songs that were picked".

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince Review

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince“, the sixth entry into the series, is definitely the most leisurely of the movies to date. Clocking in at over 2 1/2 hours long, there’s no sense of urgency detected in Potterdom this time around. And why would there be? Young love is in the air. Never mind all that business with the Dark Lord and his minions, who seem to be waging an all-out assault against our heroes when they aren’t otherwise preoccupied with “snogging.”

Harry grows up in this one. That’s pretty much all you need to know right? Six movies into the Potter franchise, and your options for reviewing the film begin to see diminishing returns. Director David Yates gives the film a depth beyond the first five, including THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, which he also directed. He has taken these young actors to a whole new level. And Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, despite a few narrative threads and character arcs left dangling in the transfer, is by far one of the best of the series, and absolutely the funniest and most human. The last film that will be set largely at Hogwarts, Half-Blood Prince leaves room for its characters and the world they inhabit to breathe, returning to things like Quidditch and Christmas parties and the “frivolous” things that make Rowling’s writing such a joy. Early test screenings yielded complaints that the whole movie focused on romance and that the action was backgrounded. These complaints are, amazingly, right and wrong at the same time. Yes, the focus on the film is about the romances between the characters, but these romances don’t happen in a vacuum. Outside of Hogwarts things are getting dark, as Death Eaters have begun waging terrorist war not just on the magical world but the Muggle one as well. Things are looking downright apocalyptic, but the film knows that ill-fated romance can seem just as apocalyptic when you’re 15. If Broadbent is the cornerstone performance, Radcliffe’s is the pinnacle. Make no mistake - this is Daniel Radcliffe’s movie. His serious dramatic work is still shaky, but the greatest addition to the character of Harry is a solid sense of humor that he seems to have gained sometime when the audience wasn’t looking. Radcliffe’s laugh lines land squarely, making it obvious that the actor has a future in comedic roles if he wants them.

That humor is important not only for character, but also important to create a sense of worth and meaning for the entire world. It’s the moments between Ron, Hermione, Harry and Ginny that give a sense of what the crew are fighting for. At the end of the last film, Harry intimates that the group’s advantage over the dark forces is that they have true friendships to defend. It’s clear that those friendships are growing, becoming deeper, and in turn becoming more important as the focus of what these characters have to lose. On the other hand, not many teens face a hero’s quest as daunting as the one set for Harry, with a showdown scheduled for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. And it’s in that exquisite place of action and waiting that this elegantly balanced production emerges as a model adaptation. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley, David Thewlis as Remus Lupin and Oliver Phelps as George Weasley

Jim Broadbent joins the cast in this film as Professor Slughorn — it’s always delightful to see yet another veteran British character actor appearing in the Harry Potter series. Broadbent’s Slughorn is a little less insinuating and power-hungry than the character in the book, and less rotund than I’d imagined the character, but I have no objection to these improvements.

Fans of the book may feel unhappy that some of their favorite parts are changed or omitted. However, as a movie dependent on earlier films in the series, Half-Blood Prince provides a carefully plotted story with plenty of humor to counterbalance the darker moments. Yates, who also directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, has managed to find the best way to tell the Harry Potter stories effectively on film — as a tight suspense film that isn’t too scary for older kids, with a good dose of humor, Young Love, and charm. I’m not going to compare and rank this film up against the others in the series (better than #4, #3 still best) because I haven’t seen some of them in years, but this movie has me looking forward to the final two in the series, and even hoping that some of the seventh book’s flaws will vanish in the movie adaptations….read more [Cinematical]

Has the Robert Pattinson phenomenon crossed over to a more manly audience? It seems that a hot Gossip Girl cast member may be wanting to become the Twilight star.
This is certainly a guy who can hold his own, and he's definitely a celeb that doesn't need to be looking for popularity. In fact, this dude topped People Magazine's Hottest Bachelor's List. It's being said that Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford is the man who's been spotted stealing dear old Robbie's fashion. Apparently, Chace feels threatened that Pattinson is taking over his stomping ground of New York City, as that's the shoot location for the upcoming film RP stars in called Remember Me. This LOOK that's being patented as Pattinson's consists of an open shirt, scruffy beard, Ray Bans and what else, but some messy hair.

Eclipse Cast Update: Tom Felton or Channing Tatum for Riley?

We are learning that Harry Potter's own Tom Felton may be playing Riley. Rumors have been circulating for a while and Felton is finally speaking out on his fansite and his twitter page. He says that he'll be ready when they want him! But then he quickly backpeddles saying that really he's just joking and he's not sure about anything at this point, but his fans will be the first to know when he finds anything out! Maybe Felton and Robert Pattinson want to have a bit of a Harry Potter reunion on the set of Eclipse.

But Tom Felton isn't the only actor being considered for the important role of the badboy vampire. Hottie Channing Tatum is also reportedly in the mix. If you guys remember from the book, Riley is basically Victoria's fighting partner and puppet boy. He loves her but she is using him to get what she wants and the heartbreak that Riley feels is tragic.
