Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Gone With the Wind
by Margaret Mitchell

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the American Civil War, Margaret Mitchell's epic love story is an unforgettable tale of love and loss, of a nation mortally divided and its people forever changed. At the heart of all this chaos is the story of beautiful, ruthless Scarlett 'O' Hara and the dashing soldier of fortune, Rhett Butler.

Atlanta native Margaret Mitchell’s 1936 novel, Gone With the Wind, occupies an important place in American literature. After breaking publishing records with one million copies sold within six months, the novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, has been translated into over forty languages, and remains one of the best-selling novels of all time.

Even before the book’s publication, producer David O. Selznick had secured the film rights at Mitchell's asking price of $50,000, which was more than any studio had paid for the rights to an author’s first novel. The film debuted in Atlanta at Loew’s Grand Theatre in December 1939, breaking all box office records in the course of its first run. It featured such popular actors as Clark Gable (Rhett Butler), Olivia de Havilland (Melanie Wilkes), and Leslie Howard (Ashley Wilkes), and made a star of Vivien Leigh (Scarlett O'Hara).

Gone With the Wind remains one of Hollywood’s most popular and commercially successful films, and set new standards through its use of color, set design, and cinematography. The film was nominated for thirteen Oscars and was awarded ten, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress, which went to Hattie McDaniel (Mammy), the first African American to win an Academy Award.

With its detailed atmosphere of a vanished age, its compelling characters, its forceful narrative, its description of human survival, and its portrayal of the persistence of romantic dreams, Gone With the Wind continues to entertain and sometimes exasperate readers. As well as being a novel of epic proportions, it is valuable as an historical document, though one that should be carefully read. A depiction of life and conflict in the nineteenth-century South, the novel also documents twentieth-century emotions about the region’s past and memories of a way of life that many considered gone with the wind.

Pixar’s Monsters University Trailer Released

Disney•Pixar has released the first teaser trailer for Monsters University, its upcoming prequel to Monsters, Inc. The film is set about ten years before the events of its predecessor and will follow the story of how Mike and Sulley first met in college and how their relationship evolved over time. While they were initially foes, the pair ultimately overcame their differences and became inseparable. John Goodman, Billy Crystal, and Steve Buscemi will reprise their roles with Dan Scanlon (Mater and the Ghostlight) serving as director. Judging from the trailer, it looks like Monsters University will be full of laughs and will mark another hit for Pixar. Monsters University will hit theaters on June 21, 2013. Check out the teaser below:

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 Full Trailer

The full new trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2 has finally come online-- on the occasion, of course, of Edward Cullens' 111th birthday. Take a look at the new trailer below.

Unlike the first half of the Breaking Dawn films, which was all about the lovey-dovey stuff of Edward and Bella's wedding, honeymoon, and birth of their child Renesmee, the second half seems to be all about the action, with the powerful Volturi vampires taking on Edward and Bella because they believe Renesmee poses some kind of threat. I have no idea exactly why they think this-- the mythology of the Twilight universe can be surprisingly impenetrable sometimes-- but when you've got a pallid Michael Sheen on your case, it's probably best to strike back. With the Volturi breathing down their neck, Edward and Bella team up with other vamipre tribes and even Jacob, who still seems uncomfortable (and woodenly acted as ever by Taylor Lautner) but at least gets a good dig in there about the red eyes.

Maybe the most interesting, and refreshing, thing in the whole trailer is those last few shots, showing the vampire tribes going head to head…. and Bella right there in the thick of it. We had three movies that were nothing but vampire action happening while she stood by the side-- remember in Eclipse when she was literally carried up a mountain to be out of harm's way?-- and now that she's a vampire, she can actually stick up for herself. It's a little late, sure, but we've got one more Twilight movie to go, and it's a relief to think it might be a little less dull this time around. Breaking Dawn: Part 2 comes to theaters Novermber 16.

Demi Moore Divorcing Ashton Kutcher "With Great Sadness"

Demi Moore is ending her marriage to fellow actor Ashton Kutcher, she told The Associated Press on Thursday. Moore, 49, and Kutcher, 33, were wed in September 2005.

The couple's relationship became tabloid fodder in recent months as rumors swirled about Kutcher's alleged infidelity.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation," she said in her statement to the AP.
The pair frequently used Twitter to communicate with each other as millions of fans followed along.
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi," Kutcher tweeted Thursday. "Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail."
Moore said in 2007 that her relationship with the star of "That '70s Show" and "Punk'd" — who is 15 years younger than Moore — "caught us both by surprise."
"If somebody would have said, 'OK, here is the prediction: You're going to meet a man 25 years old and he's going to see being with you and having your three kids as a bonus,' I would have said, 'Keep dreaming,'" Moore said in a 2007 interview with Vanity Fair. "I think it caught us both by surprise, and particularly him."
Kutcher became a stepfather to Moore's three daughters — Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Belle — from her 13-year marriage to actor Bruce Willis. Moore and Willis divorced in 2000 but remained friendly. Moore and Kutcher were photographed socializing with Willis, and the couple attended Willis' wedding to model-actress Emma Heming in 2009.
Moore and Kutcher created the DNA Foundation, also known as the Demi and Ashton Foundation, in 2010 to combat the organized sexual exploitation of girls around the globe. They later lent their support to the United Nations' efforts to fight human trafficking, a scourge the international organization estimates affects about 2.5 million people worldwide.
Moore can be seen on screen in the recent films "Margin Call" and "Another Happy Day." Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen on TV's "Two and a Half Men" as is part of the ensemble film "New Year's Eve," set for release next month.
Kutcher's publicist did not immediately respond to an e-mail and phone call seeking comment. No divorce papers had been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court as of Thursday afternoon.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) takes on zombies, mermaids... and Penelope Cruz...

Details
Release Date: May 20, 2011; Rated: PG-13; Length: 141 Minutes; Genre: Action/Adventure; With: Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp; Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures

STARRING Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane
DIRECTED BY Rob Marshall

Those who know the backstory of Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now understand that you need to be very brave, or very foolish, to film in a jungle. And Coppola didn't have to deal with 3-D cameras. ''I couldn't decide if we were stupid or pioneers,'' says director Rob Marshall, who kicked off the production of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in some of Hawaii's leafier locales before moving to L.A., Puerto Rico, and London. ''But there's nothing like doing it for real and not being on a stage with a green screen.'' Marshall (Chicago) replaces Gore Verbinski, who opted to leave the franchise after directing the first three films. Other fresh faces include Ian McShane, who plays the evil Blackbeard, and Penélope Cruz, who portrays Blackbeard's daughter, Angelica. There is also a new quest, for the Fountain of Youth — plus zombies and mermaids.

Of course, Johnny Depp returns as Capt. Jack Sparrow, and Keith Richards reprises his role as Jack's father. ''We needed his character back,'' says Depp of Richards. ''That was one of the things I felt very strongly about.'' What was it like to hang out with the Rolling Stones legend again? ''It was perfection!'' laughs Depp. Marshall relished the chance to work with Richards too. ''I did not expect him to be so funny,'' says the director. ''After one take I said, 'Keith, you're such a good actor.' He said, 'You should see my Hamlet!''' —Clark Collis

Robert Pattinson About The End of Twilight Saga

The young heartthrob offers Elle magazine a special interview about how he sees the end of this important chapter in his life. Find out the thoughts of Robert Pattinson about the end of Twilight together with his teenage dreams.
The May issues of the highly acclaimed ELLE magazine granted the Twilight star with the chance to reveal his thoughts about the future. Moreover, fans will have the chance not only to find out the opinion of Robert Pattinson about the end of Twilight, but also things that embarrass him and other intriguing facts.

Those who are familiarized with the tremendous popularity of the vampire series know that Rob Patz succeeded in winning the heart of millions of fans with his ingenious performance and catchy character. Besides being considered as one of the hottest young male actors of the moment, he also attracted the attention of prominent directors who more than probably will offer him a chance to show his talent by breathing life into different personalities. The Twilight actor is always eager to talk about his pretty down-to-earth lifestyle along with his qualities and flaws.

Learn more about his predictions on how this important period of his life will end. Robert claims that, "You know, when the whole thing dries up and there’s hardly any paparazzi around, I don’t know, in 15 years or something, I like the idea of just one paparazzo coming out and trying to get a picture, and I just beat the sh*t out of him. I mean, out of nowhere, when my picture’s not even worth . . . and I’ve spent all my money, so you can’t sue me!".
Rob proved in a series of interviews that he can be funny and has no lofty ideas of a glamorous future in Hollywood. Instead he's realistic and tries to cherish the moment rather than being absorbed by his ambitions.

The interview also reveals what are the things that embarrass him, "I guess if you’re constantly in public, you’re not embarrassed about anything. But dancing is my Achilles’ heel, I don’t even try. It’s like, "Come on, dance!"

"No, I’m not getting up!" I can freestyle by myself with no one watching. I’m a great dancer then." Robert openly states his lack of dancing skills, however, we know that he still aspired to land on the stage as a rapper rather than a pro dancer.
Various media sources and even fans consider him weird, see how he thinks about himself, "I guess I used to be weirder. When you’re confronted with yourself too much, you start to think, Jesus Christ, you’re so f*cking boring. And the more you think you’re boring, the more you become boring. I talk about myself too much now."

Furthermore, we have the chance to sneak peek into the teenage dreams of Robert Pattinson as he claims that, "I was always obsessed with Kate Moss. On my bedroom wall I had a poster of Linda Blair and Kate Moss. I always liked Jane Fonda. Who else? Ellen Burstyn." Now that we've found out more on the personality of this young actor, we're definitely looking forward to get hold of more details from his private and professional life and complete our dazzling celeb profile.

Robert Pattinson Furious over Leaked "Breaking Dawn" Photos

Robert Pattinson has choice words for one of his Twilight fans. Specifically, the unnamed person who leaked a series of photos from the upcoming film Breaking Dawn last week. One of the images showed Bella and Edward in an intimate embrace, while the other appeared to show Bella undergoing a peculiar transformation.

"It's just ridiculous. I literally can't believe that it happened," Pattinson told MTV. He then issued a call to arms:
I want the Twilight troops to mobilize, all the good fans, and find out who these little sh**s are and just hack into their compuyters and destroy them ... I'm being genuinely serious, Twilight fans ... Punish them.
Fighting words! But this isn't the first time Pattinson has been furious at hackers. Earlier this year, Pattinson said he was going to sue an Australian teen who allegedly hacked into his personal email account.

Pattinson just doesn't get why anyone would have leaked the photos in the first place. "Why do this maliciously? You're not a fan. You're just a di**. That's all there is to it."

Robert Pattinson: Vanity Fair April 2011 Cover

Robert Pattinson covers April 2011 issue of Vanity Fair. Twilight heartthrob is looking fearless on the cover with an alligator over his shoulders. Photographed by famed photog Annie Leibovitz in Baton Rouge, Vanity Fair April 2011 cover features Twilight’s super sexy in white shirt, jeans and a hat.

The 24-year-old British actor talked about many things in interview like about his rumored romance with Kristen Stewart, his favorite ever leading lady, and Twilight’s appeal.

Check out some excerpts from the interview:
On his admiration for Kristen Stewart:
“Kristen is very focused on being an actress. I mean, that’s what she is—she’s an actress. Whereas I—I just don’t really know. She’s cool. Even before I knew her I thought she was a really good actress. Like, I saw Into the Wild, and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class that are as good as she is.”
On how ‘Twilight’ has changed his life:
“There’s nothing you can do about it. That’s the way it is. But it is weird being part of that, kind of representing something you don’t particularly like.”
On Twilight’s appeal to legions of fans:
“I can’t really understand it even now. It does have an angle which is attached to something quite primal in girls. I guess people want it to define them, like ‘I’m a Twilight fan.’… I think people really just like being part of a crowd. There’s something just tremendously exciting about hyping yourself up to that level.”
On Charlie Sheen:
“I like crazy people who don’t give a f—. I’ve just kind of stopped doing everything. I never change the channel in my trailer. I just watch reruns of ‘House of Payne’ and ‘Two and a Half Men.’ I love ‘Cops’ — I think it’s my favorite TV show. God, I sound like such a loser.
On the public’s interest in his relationship with Stewart:
“It’s just very traumatic. When this is over, the media will lose interest. There’ll be nothing to say. It won’t fit into a headline anymore. It won’t fit into a template.”

5 Movie marathons for a cold winter day

If your copy of “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days” has seen its days and you’re desperately looking for a marathon that doesn’t include the real housewives from anywhere, grab some popcorn and cosmopolitans because you’re in for a seriously good time (from the comfort of your warm, cozy couch) if you pick any of the marathons listed below.

1. The Judd Apatow Saga: The ’80s had the brat pack but we’ve got the comedic crew of a lifetime led by fearlessly funny director Judd Apatow. Names like Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Jason Segal, Jonah Hill, and Steve Carrell cover the IMDb lists of Apatow’s movies, each one of them making us realize how sexy a how sense of humor really is.
Movie List: Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Pineapple Express and Forgetting Sarah Marshall

2. The Lindsay Lohan Pre-Rehab Marathon: If you need a reminder why everyone is so obsessed with the ins and outs of Lindsay Lohan’s stints at rehab, this marathon is just the fix. Sure, the past few years haven’t exactly been LiLo’s best and brightest, but she wasn’t always a bad girl. Time to grab your ankle bracelet because with a movie list like this, you won’t be leaving the house for a while.
Movie List: The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

3. Classics That We Should All See Once, Just To Say You’ve Seen Them: Some things for us are just classic, like Ryan Reynolds shirtless and waking up next to the guy you asked all your friends to keep you away from (and reminding yourself not to do that again), but some classics are before our time. Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, are all names we know but have you actually seen their movies? If you’re in need of a classic movie rundown, you’re in luck. Oh, and if you think Ryan Reynolds is sexy, wait until you see a semi-shirtless Marlon Brandon cry out “Stellaaaaaa.”
Movie List: A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, Some Like It Hot and Breakfast At Tiffany’s

4. ’90s Teen Movies: If you’re missing your spaghetti strap tanks and your platform Sketchers, grab all your Beanie Babies and your old Bop magazines, sink into your inflatable chair and head down memory lane with these movies. If the wardrobe doesn’t bring you back to your early teen years, the plots of heartbreak and crushes sure will. Search your drugstore for a facial mask, grab your bestie and paint each other’s nails and make a sleepover out of it, just like freshman year of high school when you couldn’t party on Friday nights because you couldn’t drive.
Movie List: She’s All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, Clueless and Spiceworld

5. Wintery Romantic Comedies: Because romantic comedies just seem more romantic when it’s cold outside. Call your friends and get out of going out tonight (tell them you’re sick, cough, cough,) so you can indulge in the guiltiest of movie marathons. Throw on a plush sweater and your Uggs, make some hot cocoa with extra marshmallows and keep a box of tissues near by (just in case) and follow the adventures of finding love in the coldest months with some of your best girlfriends, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Movie List: The Holiday, Love Actually, The Family Stone and Serendipity

Johnny Depp on Vanity Fair January 2011 Cover

Johnny Depp is on the cover page of January 2011 issue of Vanity Fair magazine. He is gracing the cover page to discuss his new film ‘The Tourist’ opposite Angelina Jolie which is set to hit theaters on December 10th, 2010.  Unlike other January 2011 fashion magazine covers featuring female celebs, sexy hunk Johnny Depp is Vanity Fair cover star.

47-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star talks about many things in this issue to rock legend Patti Smith like about this latest flick, Angelina Jolie, Captain Jack being gay, playing the swashbuckler Jack Sparrow and lots more. Johnny Depp Vanity Fair magazine spread is shot by Annie Leibovitz.

Check out what this handosme hunk has to share:

Johnny Depp on avoiding the paparazzi while filming with Jolie:

“[Always] having to hide, sometimes not even being able to talk to each other in public because someone will take a photograph and it will be misconstrued and turned into some other sh–.”

Johnny Depp on Disney executives not liking his interpretation of Captain Sparrow:

“They couldn’t stand him. They just couldn’t stand him. I think it was Michael Eisner, the head of Disney at the time, who was quoted as saying, ‘He’s ruining the movie.’

Johnny Depp on his many eccentric roles over his career:

“They’re all still there, which on some level can’t be the healthiest thing in the world…. I always picture it as this chest of drawers in your body–Ed Wood is in one, the Hatter is in another, Scissorhands is in another…. They’re still very close to the surface.”

Johnny Depp on the music career he almost had:

“Going into acting was an odd deviation from a particular road that I was on in my late teens, early 20s, because I had no desire, no interest, really, in it at all. I was a musician and I was a guitarist, and that’s what I wanted to do.”

Johnny Depp on the appeal of his character in The Tourist:

“I was always fascinated by people who are considered completely normal, because I find them the weirdest of all.”

Johnny Depp on working with Angelina:

“Meeting her and getting to know her was a real pleasant surprise. You don’t know what she might be like—if she has any sense of humor at all. I was so pleased to find that she is incredibly normal, and has a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor…I’ve had the honor and the pleasure and gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years. You know, you sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she’s hilarious. Angie’s got the same kind of thing, you know, the same approach.”

What’s your take on Johnny Depp Vanity Fair Cover.

Twilight Kristen Stewart in a white bikini on romantic sea frolic with Robert Pattinson

She's know for being dark and brooding, but Kristen Stewart looked white hot in a tiny bikini while taking a beach break with Robert Pattinson.
Newly-released pictures of the couple show them playfully stripped down and swimming together in the ocean in Brazil.
Kristen, 20, looked toned in her bandeau two-piece as she emerged from the water with her wet hair slicked back.

Robert, 24, seemed in very high spirits as the pair cavorted together.
He took a running jump into the water wearing only his underwear.
Clad in a pair of black Calvin Klein boxers, the Twilight star was taking time out from filming Breaking Dawn, the latest instalment in the vampire saga.
As Robert leapt yelling over Kristen's head, she ducked low in the water and grimaced at the oncoming splash from her boyfriend.
Witnesses also spotted Kristen jumping on Robert's back for a piggyback ride.
The pair were also seen filming steamy kissing scenes on the streets of Rio De Janeiro last month.
Twilight: Breaking Dawn is set for release on Nov 18th, 2011.
In the meantime Kristen fans can see her current film, Welcome To The Riley's, in which she plays an under-age stripper.

Robert Pattinson: Kristen Stewart is the 'Most Honest and Genuine Person'

So, we'll probably never know if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart  are or were an item -- though he does talk about her more openly these days, and clearly holds his co-star in high esteem. Still, there's never a clear answer to the burning question, so it seems like we'll all have to settle for an educated guess.
From what the Twilight stars says, however, these two are very close and connected -- off the set, too. He said: “What I especially like about her is that she’s like me, not dizzy from fans and press attention. She stays true to herself and very smart for her age. With each movie she matured.

“During the filming of Eclipse, I realized that she matured a lot and become a real woman. And, of course, it’s a lot easier to work with a person I worked before.

“We understand each other without the words. I can tell Kristen about all my problems. But honestly I don’t have to… because she’s in same position as I am.”

The 24-year-old star also said he is “grateful” for the support Kristen gives him both on and off set. He explained to Russia’s Grazia magazine: “Kristen really cares about me. I’m very grateful for this. She’s the most honest and genuine person I’ve ever met. She always listens and gives good advice regardless of her own interests.”

Despite his feelings for Kristen, Robert doesn’t believe in eternal love. He added: “The idea seems strange to me. It’s so boring to spend your whole life with the same person.”

Angelina Jolie will play Cleopatra

One of the ancient world's most famous women will be portrayed one of the the most famousin the modern world. It's been confirmed that Angelina Jolie has signed on to portray the Queen of the Nile herself: Cleopatra.

Jolie will be taking on role in an upcoming adapation of author Stacy Schiff's historical biogrpahy, Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra: A Life.

Michael Pietsch, publisher of Schiff's book (which isn't even due out until this November) confirmed the news to Us Weekly, saying "Angelina Jolie radiates grace and power, exactly the qualities that Stacy Schiff finds in her biography of the most intriguing ruler who ever lived."

Schiff herself agreed, telling the New York Daily News, "I think she'd be perfect for it and I can see a possible Oscar in her future," Schiff said.

It's not the first time the ruler's life has been adapated for the big screen. The 1963 epic Cleopatra featured Elizabeth Taylor, during the height of her fame, playing opposite her real-life lover Richard Burton, who portrayed Roman general Marc Antony.

At the time, the movie was most expensive film production in history, costing $44 million dollars, or nearly $310 millon in today's dollars. It's still considered the second most expensive movie ever produced, behind only the $315 million spent on Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End in 2007.
